Cool off and enjoy your summer evening on the porch with a glass of lemonade!
- 6 lemons
- 1 cup white sugar (or an equivalent amount of stevia or Splenda)
- 6 cups cold water
- Using either a juicer or your hands, juice the lemons to make 1 cup of juice.
- In a gallon-sized pitcher, combine lemon juice and water.
- Stir in the sugar.
- Allow lemonade to chill or serve over ice.
To add a little pizazz to your lemonade, add a bit of seltzer water or club soda (this will add sodium, however) to a glass before you pour in the lemonade to make a delightful fizzy beverage. You can also make a homemade shandy by pouring in equal amounts of a light lager and lemonade into a pint glass. Shandy is a refreshing beverage during the hottest days of summer.
